THANKS for your SUPPORT! The 2nd Annual YWCA Greater Rhode Island Yard Sale was a great success! We look forward to next year!!

Join YWCA Greater Rhode Island on Sunday, August 17th and support the organization by purchasing yard sale items and baked goods or having lunch at our Bar-b-que! The Yard Sale will be held in our Learning Center Parking lot, 43 Hawes Street, Central Falls, RI.

Purchases of gently-used items, from furniture to electronics, kitchen wares, books and clothing will support one of Rhode Island's oldest non-profit organizations. Enjoy an afternoon of thrift shopping, food and entertainment, for a great cause. Profits from the yard sale benefit YWCA Greater Rhode Island's Learning Center which provides a summer camp, a before and after school program, and a year-round pre-school for children residing in Central Falls and Pawtucket.

Celebrate Women’s History Month

March 7 through 8, 2008 - 2nd Annual Female Faces of War Event

‘Female Faces of War’ Conference and OVERNIGHT ADVENTURE at the Battleship Massachusetts in Fall River, MA. The event supported The YWCA of Greater Rhode Island and the ‘Women Protecting US’ exhibit at Battleship Massachusetts.

The event was a day to hear educational, inspirational and conscience raising stories from women who have felt the impact of war. Activities included the opening of the ‘Women Protecting US’ exhibit, discussion groups, speaker presentations, and included an overnight adventure aboard the Battleship on Friday, March 7.

The March 2007 event (1st Female Faces of War) included Ada Winsten, a holocaust survivor, Ruth Crocker whose husband was killed in Vietnam, Awista Ayub from Afghanistan, Vanessa Contopulos, a music therapist who worked with Uganda’s Invisible Children, Stephany Kern,a mother of a Marine who was killed in Irag, and Dorcas Kumba Kamanda, a refugee from Sierra Leone West Africa. Their memorable stories gave strength to all who listened.
