NEW YES PROGRAM! Youth Employment for Summer, is a program sponsored by the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training. The goal is to provide work experience for youth aged 16-19, along with workforce readiness training. During summer 2009, YWCA Greater Rhode Island is employing 12 teens as counselors in the YWCA summer camp, while offering participants a series of college exploration site visits, mock-interviews, assistance with resume preparation and college essays, as well as other educational opportunities. YWCA Greater Rhode Island has been selected to partner with Children’s Friend, a Providence-based non-profit organization, to provide early care and education services to children three to five years old under the Federal Head Start program beginning in September 2009. Children will receive high quality child care and educational services that promote literacy and math skills, social and emotional development, and other skills important for school and later academic success. The program will also provide “family support services” to help parents gain access to the services they need to help their children succeed. Events The YWCA Greater Rhode Island hosts several events throughout the year. These events serve to raise awareness and involvement in our mission. Past Events:
