YWCA Greater Rhode Island Undergoes Strategic Restructuring
Central Falls, RI Thursday, August 18, 2011 Faced with mounting debt that impacts its ability to meet payroll and pay bills, YWCA Greater Rhode Island is undergoing a strategic restructuring process. As a result of this, YWCA Greater Rhode Island will regretfully close its Central Falls childcare facility at the end of August.
Parents of children, as well as YWCA staff members, are being provided assistance in locating childcare options and job opportunities to ensure continuity of care.
“We’re not going away,” Johanna LeClair, YWCA board president says. “We are a creative and resilient women-led organization. We will make it through these challenging times and continue to serve the community.”
Leclair says the agency will increase its focus on helping women in its transitional housing program and will work in partnership with its sister agency YWCA Northern Rhode Island to provide community health outreach programs.
