The Sarah Frances Grant Homestead, built
in 1880 was once the home of Smith and Sarah Frances, prominent
members of Central Falls society. This majestic, Queen Anne style
home was gifted by Mrs. Sarah Frances with the wish that, "young
women may have life and have it more abundantly."
The Sarah Frances Grant Homestead became the
headquarters of the YWCA Greater Rhode Island in 1914, turning it
into the hub of YWCA operations, and the cornerstone of support for
citizens in the cities of Pawtucket and Central Falls. In 1996 a
plan was implemented to restore this grand Victorian to its original
purpose-- a safe haven and a home.
